Tybee Island May 2010

One reason we like to go to Tybee is to paddle the marshes. I was in my second week of having pneumonia and Sam was in his third week. Neither of us felt much like physical effort but neither of us was going to ruin the trip for the other.  We spent two days on kayaks and only one day on the beach. We also tried to ride bikes around the island each day. We had to cancel Tybee last year after our trailer was hit by a "distracted" driver. We were not going to cancel this trip!

Little Tybee can be an easy paddle. The water was a little rough going and very rough getting back. We had to paddle straight into the waves to get back. We went over some and some went over us! It was fun to push to the top of a wave and then drop off the back side.

I found this dead baby horseshoe crab on Little Tybee.

Our private island of two years ago has been discovered. We encountered at least fifty other people on Little Tybee. Southern Living had an article about kayaking on Tybee Island earlier this year. Southern Living keeps giving away our secrets!
